This sculpture relates to the idea of cleanliness as a method to protect boundaries. Industrial slaughterhouses must conform to strict hygiene regulations. Conforming to these regulations requires constant attention and effort, which can contribute to feeling in control over the situation and which can distract from the realization of what you are actually doing. Cleanliness becomes a ritual in which the participant is able to keep non-human animals in the context of the slaughterhouse at a distance.
